Donald Trump Tweets About Benghazi During Istanbul Attack

June 28th 2016

UPDATE 2:24 p.m. PST — About an hour after Trump tweeted about Benghazi and Hillary Clinton, he weighed in on the attack in Istanbul.

As the rest of the world has its eyes turned to Istanbul, Turkey — where two suicide bombers have killed at least killed 41 people and injured 239 others on Tuesday — presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is talking about Hillary Clinton and Benghazi.

At least one hour after reports emerged of the attack on Istanbul's main international airport, Trump tweeted that the Benghazi investigation "is just another Hillary Clinton failure." He appears to be responding to a House committee's final report on the Benghazi attack, which found no evidence of wrongdoing on the part of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

"Hillary Clinton’s Presidency would be catastrophic for the future of our country," Trump tweeted minutes later. "She is ill-fit with bad judgment."

It is unclear whether Trump has been made aware of the attack in Istanbul prior to posting these tweets. ATTN: reached out to the Trump campaign for a comment and will update this story if and when the candidate responds to the attack.

Update: 6/29 7:23 a.m. PST: This story was updated to include the death toll and number of injured people in the Istanbul attack.
