The passing of music legend icon Prince hit social media like a ton of bricks on Thursday.

Prince's resumé is unmatched. He won seven Grammies, was nominated 30 times, and had 19 top ten hits in his career. But beyond that, he was a pioneer who challenged the boundaries of music, sexuality and personal identity. As many social media commenters have pointed out, Prince opened their minds to a world they didn't even know existed.

Here's how other celebrities responded to the news on Thursday morning.
