Megan Fox Has A Message For People Trying To Guess Who Got Her Pregnant

April 13th 2016

Actress Megan Fox just slyly told the legion of Twitter users trying to guess the father of her child to mind their own business.

The "New Girl" star recently encountered the unusual form of sexist shaming when Twitter users created a guessing game about the pregnancy, Buzzfeed reported. On Tuesday, she shut down the inquiries in a brilliant Instagram collage of three of the 'suspects,' hashtagged #notthefather.

Fox's fans applauded her Instagram post.

Why is this happening?

The ridiculous controversy surfaced after Fox was photographed at CinemaCon, appearing—as pregnant women are wont to do—visibly pregnant. Who could solve this caper? Naturally, Twitter users decided to weigh in, and speculated that male co-stars Will Arnett, Jake Johnson, or Shia LaBeouf might be responsible for the baby bump.

Let's take a step back.

As some Twitter users pointed out, no matter who impregnated Megan Fox, it really isn't any of our business. The comments the actress faced are also ripe with sexism, and illustrate a form of policing women's bodies and sexual decisions.

These tweets rang a particularly slut-shaming note, and implied that Fox must have slept with each of these men simply because she worked with them.

The sexist assumption that women are necessarily having sex with their male coworkers isn't limited to Hollywood sets. During the recent high profile Hulk Hogan vs. Gawker Media trial, the jury posed a question to former Gawker managing editor and current Jezebel editor Emma Carmichael, asking if she had slept with either of her bosses, according to Tampa Bay Times reporter Anna Phillips.

Speculation about Fox's pregnancy is unlikely to end any time soon, but there's one thing we can say for sure: she's one funny lady.
