Trevor Noah Wants to Know If Bernie Is Being C*ckblocked

April 5th 2016

The Daily Show's Trevor Noah has some questions for the Democratic National Chair about her candidates' campaigns. In particular, he wants to know if Sen. Bernie Sanders is being "cockblocked" by his own party. He asked DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz his burning question.

"Bernie came out on Twitter, I don't know if you saw this, this weekend, this past weekend. He's been going at Hillary quite hard, and a lot of people feel that Bernie Sanders has been, I'm going to paraphrase here, or really quote Twitter rather, that Bernie has been cockblocked by the DNC. Is there any merit to this?"

After a pause for audience laughter, a slightly surprised Wasserman Schultz recovered to deny the alleged cockblock.

She had this response to Noah's comments:

“As powerful as that makes me feel, I’m not doing a very good job of rigging the outcome or blocking anyone from being able to get their message out. The reality is I have a job as a national party chair that, one, requires a thick skin. It requires me to be able to absorb the body blows so our candidates can stay above the fray. If I have to take a few punches in order for them to be able to get their message out, then so be it. I’m all about making sure we can ultimately elect our party’s nominee in the general election.”

Twitter users have in fact thrown the words cockblock and Bernie Sanders around.

Schultz also called the Republican race a "clown car that's been riding around the country" and said that "every time they open their mouth they do something to alienate somebody else."

Both Democratic presidential campaigns have accused the other of lying about each candidates' record throughout the campaign. In the past ATTN: reported on Sanders blasting Clinton for taking money from Goldman Sachs. Sanders also said that Clinton accepts money from the fossil fuel industry and charges outrageous speaking fees as a fundraising tool. Last week, Clinton publicly accused the Sanders campaign of lying about her donations from the fossil fuel industry.

It's clear, cockblocks and campaign money keep this race interesting.
