Kesha Was Offered Freedom from Her Dr. Luke Contract for a Ridiculous Price

April 3rd 2016

Update: APRIL 3--Dr. Luke has responded to Kesha's recent claims that she was asked to retract her sexual assault testimony in exchange to be released from her recording contract with Luke's label, Kemosabe Records.

In an statement obtained by Rolling Stone magazine, a spokesperson for Dr. Luke blamed Kesha for her failure to leave her contract.

"The court repeatedly stated Kesha is already free to record without Dr. Luke, and that she has not presented any facts supporting her claims. That's because all the evidence--including Kesha's own videotapped sworn testimony--show her allegations are false. The only thing Kesha is not free to do is to continue to lie about Dr. Luke through publicity stunts and outrageous smears, ignoring the fact that by her own free will she went to work and entered into new contracts with Dr. Luke years after this 'incident' supposedly happened. Her goal all along has been solely personal enrichment by seeking to break contracts that brought her success and millions so she can enter into more lucrative ones. We look forward to our day in court holding Kesha accountabe for her lies."

Early Sunday morning, singer Kesha dropped the most explosive update in her trial against Sony and music producer, Dr. Luke, since she was denied exit from her contract with the music juggernauts by a New York court last month.

Kesha and Dr. Luke

Kesha, who is signed to Dr. Luke’s record label (Kemosabe Records), claims she was physically and emotionally abused by Dr. Luke since she was 18. Dr. Luke claims that these allegations are false.

In a revealing Instagram post, Kesha just stated she was finally offered freedom from the iron grip contract she’s been trying to get out of for years. The only stipulation… she would need to “apologize publicly and say she never got raped.”

The full text reads:

so. I got offered my freedom IF i were to lie. I would have to APOLOGIZE publicly and say that I never got raped. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS behind closed doors. I will not take back the TRUTH. I would rather let the truth ruin my career than lie for a monster ever again.

Kesha

Kesha, essentially a musical prisoner at this point, refuses to record with Dr. Luke and release songs under his label. Since Sony, Dr. Luke, and the courts will not let Kesha out of her contract, the “Tik Tok” singer’s musical career is currently in a stalemate.

Whether you are a fan of Kesha’s music or not, she serves as a role model for millions of fans she endearingly calls her “Animals.” They look up to Kesha because her message is that it is okay to be different, stay true to yourself, and not give in to what people expect you to do.

Minutes after Kesha posted her Instagram, her Animals have come out in droves to support her:
