Elizabeth Warren Slams Donald Trump on Facebook

March 21st 2016

On Monday, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) made the argument that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is a "loser" based on his business experience and policy proposals in a Facebook post that's going viral.

"Trump seems to know he’s a loser," Warren wrote. "His embarrassing insecurities are on parade: petty bullying, attacks on women, cheap racism, and flagrant narcissism. But just because Trump is a loser everywhere else doesn’t mean he’ll lose this election. People have been underestimating his campaign for nearly a year — and it’s time to wake up."

According to a list compiled by TIME, Trump's major business failures include Trump Airlines, Trump Casinos and Trump Vodka.

While the idea that the current election cycle represents "the most important election" of our lifetimes is a "stale" concept that we hear every four years, Warren says that there's a lot on the line in 2016 and a Trump presidency would threaten to unravel the progress of the Obama administration. She wrote:

"Affordable college. Accountability for Wall Street. Healthcare for millions of Americans. The Supreme Court. Big corporations and billionaires paying their fair share of taxes. Expanded Social Security. Investments in infrastructure and medical research and jobs right here in America. The chance to turn our back on the ugliness of hatred, sexism, racism and xenophobia. The chance to be a better people."

Less than an hour after Warren published the post on Facebook, it's been shared more than 23,000 times, with over 75,000 likes. Warren also tweeted parts of her anti-Trump rant on Twitter, and those tweets are gaining traction as well.

"More than anyone we’ve seen before come within reach of the presidency, Donald Trump stands ready to tear apart an America that was built on values like decency, community, and concern for our neighbors," Warren concluded. "Many of history’s worst authoritarians started out as losers — and Trump is a serious threat. The way I see it, it’s our job to make sure he ends this campaign every bit the loser that he started it."

While Warren's comments are no doubt earning her a slew of 'likes' and retweets, it's yet to be seen if labeling Trump a 'loser' will have any tangible impact on the GOP front-runner.

Take for the example the case of former Republican candidate Jeb Bush, who called Trump a 'loser' during a Republican debate in South Carolina on Feb. 7. Two weeks later, Trump would handily win the South Carolina primary, and Bush would be forced to drop out of the race after a poor showing in the state.
