Here Are the Results From Super Tuesday

March 2nd 2016

The 2016 presidential candidates faced off in the 12 primary states and one U.S. territory that cast votes on what's known as Super Tuesday — the largest single-day vote in the election cycle. Republicans do not vote in Colorado on Super Tuesday, nor do Democrats in Alaska.

Republican front-runner Donald Trump and Democratic favorite Hillary Clinton swept to victories in a majority of the primary states. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Vermont Sen. Bernie took their home states and also edged out wins in several toss-up states. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio won his first state in the primary race by winning Minnesota.

There's something important to keep in mind while reading these results: The states up for grabs tonight will award delegates on a proportional basis, rather than awarding all their delegates to the whichever candidate gets the most votes.

Here are the results, which are based on data provided by the New York Times
