Donald J. Trump Just Called Ted Cruz a Pussy

MANCHESTER, N.H. — On the eve of the New Hampshire primary, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump called fellow GOP contender Ted Cruz a "pussy" at a rally on Monday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena.

The businessman was interrupted during a tirade against Cruz over the Texas senator's comparably soft stance on waterboarding — a topic on which candidates were pressed at Saturday night's eighth GOP debate, which took place in Manchester. A woman in the crowd yelled out loud enough for Trump to hear and stop what he was saying.

"She just said a terrible thing," he said. "You know what she said? Shout it out because I don’t want to — OK, you’re not allowed to say, and I never expect to hear that from you again. She said — I never expect to hear that from you again! — she said 'he’s a pussy.'

"That’s terrible. Terrible," Trump continued to a mix of loud applause and laughter from the crowd.

Cruz's communications director Rick Tyler responded with the following tweet, highlighting the gap between Trump's off-the-cuff rhetoric and his performance where and when it counts — on voting day.

About 5,000 Trump supporters turned out on a snowy night to cheer on the candidate's mission to "Make America Great Again," and jeer at the mention of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the press.

New Hampshire voters will turn out on Tuesday to vote in the nation's first primary. Polling indicates, as it has for months, that Trump is far and away the top candidate among likely voters.
