The NY Daily News Just Responded to Their Haters with This Hilarious Cover

December 7th 2015

The New York Daily News has made a habit of calling attention to gun control in the aftermath of mass shootings in the U.S., and their latest cover responds to critics who oppose gun reform measures.

"To all of those who have been offended by hearing the truth about our nation's gun scourge & the NRA & cowardly pols who think nothing's wrong: Everything is awesome," the headline reads (sarcastically).

Following the mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, last week, the Daily News had published a series of controversial covers centered around issues such as gun reform and terrorism. The paper has taken a strong stance in support of common sense legislation such as closing loopholes that allow about 40 percent of gun buyers to evade background checks.

"(Oh, & Bam sez we will 'destroy ISIS'—feel better now?)," the headline continues, referring to a rare, prime-time speech that President Barack Obama made on Sunday evening. Obama responded to the attack in San Bernardino and outlined the U.S. military strategy against ISIS.

"Congress should act to make sure no one on a no-fly list is able to buy a gun," Obama said on Sunday. "What could possibly be the argument for allowing a terrorist suspect to buy a semi-automatic weapon? This is a matter of national security."

The satirical cover reflects the growing frustration of gun reform advocates, who have regularly called for sensible legislation that would prevent gun violence in America. As ATTN: has previously reported, there have been more than daily mass shootings in the U.S. this year—more than any other developed country in the world.
