UPDATE: At Least 60 Reported Dead in Paris Attacks

International media is reporting multiple shooting attacks and bombings—and two active hostage situations—in Paris on Friday night. One hostage situation is apparently occurring at a concert in the city.

A shooting at a restaurant left at least 18 people dead, according to the French news wire service AFP. It is unclear where the other fatalities occurred and the number of injuries.

While information about the motive behind the attacks is not yet known, authorities have shut down parts of the city, including a soccer stadium, where there were reports of an explosion.

French president François Hollande was in attendance at the Stade de France during the time of the explosion, CNN reported. He was safely escorted from the stadium, which was placed on lockdown.

The first attack reportedly took place at the French restaurant Petit Cambodge, where at least 18 people were fatally shot according to multiple sources.

Subsequent hostage situations were reported at a Paris theater, where about 60 people are reportedly being held.
