13 Comedians React to Jon Stewart's Emotional Final Episode

August 7th 2015

Jon Stewart had an emotional final episode of "The Daily Show" Thursday night, after 16 years of hosting the late-night show. Stewart had tons of famous guests and former "Daily Show" correspondents on the show for his send-off, and the hashtag #JonVoyage began trending as celebrities and fans alike bid the comedian farewell. Everyone from Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) to fellow Comedy Central host Larry Wilmore had goodbye messages for Stewart in his final episode.

"Bullshit is everywhere," a teary-eyed Stewart said during the final moments of his last segment. "There is very little that you will encounter in life that hasn't in some ways been infused with bullshit...So I say to you tonight that the best defense against bullshit is vigilance. So if you smell something, say something."

Former colleague Stephen Colbert made an appearance on the last installment with Stewart, noting that Stewart's legacy will include the fact that he taught so many people invaluable lessons about how to do the job well.

"We owe you because we learned from you," Colbert said. "We learned from you by example, how to work with clarity, treat people with respect. You're infuriatingly good at your job. [We are all] better at our jobs because we got to see you do yours."

Here's what some other comedians had to say about Stewart's last hurrah:
