Stephen Colbert Has a Message for the Justices Who Opposed Marriage Equality

June 28th 2015

Comedian Stephen Colbert had a lot to say to the Supreme Court Justices who opposed extending the constitutional right to marriage to gay and lesbian couples. "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" doesn't premiere until September, but the comedian formerly of "The Colbert Report" released a video clip for this momentous occasion.

The historic 5-4 ruling was passed down on Friday to much joy and celebration -- with the exception of four Supreme Court Justices, who each wrote their own dissenting opinion. Stephen Colbert mocked the opinions, and even squeezed a Citizens United joke into the mix.

"History moves fast," Colbert stated. "It’s hard to believe that gay Americans achieved full Constitutional personhood just five years after corporations did."
