Hollywood Still Portrays Colorism Today

Colorism is still perpetuated today, and actor Gabrielle Union describes how there’s a light-skin versus dark-skin sentiment that continues to exist. Historically, slave owners used color to divide slaves, and later the “Brown Paper Bag Test” became a way to categorize skin tone: if you were lighter than a brown paper bag, you were attractive, if you were darker, you were considered unattractive.
