Disney’s television show “Recess” challenged historical whitewashing and gender roles, Miss Grotke spoke of America’s history in a real way, and girls were the smartest kids on the playground. Everyone defied gender stereotypes, and the show taught us it wasn’t hard to overcome challenges on the playground.
