How People Reacted to Obama and Trump's First Meeting

Thursday marked the first meeting between President Barack Obama and President-elect Donald Trump and social media users shared mixed reactions in response to the summit. 

As Trump told The New York Times, the pair discussed matters essential to the pending transfer of power. Obama reportedly assured Trump that his top priority would be facilitating the transition and working to ensure the President-elect's success.

Many people have tweeted that Obama showed tremendous class to a man who has disrespected and antagonized him for years.

In August, Trump tweeted that he thought Obama might very well be "the worst president in the history of the United States," and long championed the false theory that Obama was not born in the U.S.:
