Bernie Sanders Responds to Trump Getting Elected

On Wednesday, Sen. Bernie Sanders responded to Donald Trump's election in a Facebook post, which has gone viral with more than 127,000 likes at last count.

In the post, he attempted to explain Trump's appeal in relation to issues that many Americans are facing, including low wages, outsourcing, and rising costs of higher education.Viewed as a political outsider who also demonstrated strong anti-establishment popularity among voters, Sanders pointed out how the outcome of the election was in part due to the backlash to "the establishment" in politics, economics, and media.

Sanders echoed the message of unity in Hillary Clinton's concession speech, in which she said, “[O]ur nation is more deeply divided than we thought,” but that “[w]e owe him an open mind and a chance to lead."

Sanders also reinforce his opposition to Trump's "racist, sexist, xenophobic and anti-environment policies."
