What the Election Is Doing to Money

This presidential election is tighter than projected, and it's having a negative impact on the financial world. The Dow futures fell more than 600 points as Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump did better in Florida than expected. Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is projected to win Virginia narrowly, but that state was not expected to be close.

The NASDAQ-100 fell 4 percent, and Dow futures fell more than 800 points, according to CNBC. 

However gold futures rose.

The prices of gold sometimes rises during a period of "uncertainty," according to Forbes.
