What It's Like Inside a Donald Trump Rally

August 4th 2016

After covering Donald Trump's presidential campaign for over a year, The New York Times released a video reel highlighting the dark, xenophobic underbelly of the presidential nominee's rallies.

The three-minute video features supporters cheering Trump and using racial and sexist slurs against immigrants, Muslims, gay people, President Barack Obama, and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

"Build the wall! Fuck those dirty beaners," one Trump supporter was recorded saying.

Another supporter was escorted out of a Trump rally by police after he refused to take off his shirt that read "Fuck Islam." He then lingered outside of the rally, where some passersby encouraged him.

Then you have this person.

Trump has built a campaign around controversial proposals such as building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, banning Muslim immigration to the U.S., and putting an end to so-called "political correctness." These policies prove especially appealing to white, working class Americans — but they also invite support from a racist and xenophobic cohort of society. (Case in point: former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard David Duke endorsed Trump and recently praised acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention.)

You've really just got to see this for yourself.
