These Nude Photos Are Helping Men Get Over Their Body Issues
By:
Male body image insecurities are often overlooked in society, but one Montreal-based photographer is tackling this issue through a series of nude male photos.
Jean Mailloux, a photographer in Canada, recently opened up to Queerty about taking photos of nude men to combat his decades-long body image issues. Several of the photographed men described their own body images issues as well, he said. Most of them are regular people — not models by profession.

“I had a very poor self-image until I was in my 30s,” Mailloux told Queerty. “Eventually I became more confident with my own body and learned to like who I am. I would say that a large number of the men I photograph have had same issues. I often discuss that with them.”

Mailloux told ATTN: via email that he is most interested in photographing people who are "natural and true," and that he wants to show male vulnerability and sadness.

Mailloux noted that a lot of men are insecure about their appearances because of "perfect" male bodies frequently depicted in media.

Queerty also noted that the images are powerful displays of "homoerotic art."
