Historic Democratic Sit-In Still Happening

Even after House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) told CNN that he would not allow a vote on a measure calling for more comprehensive background checks, House Democrats are entering the thirteenth hour of their sit-in to protest the lack of congressional action on strengthening gun control legislation. 

The chaotic and unprecedented scene on the House floor involved Democrats chanting “No bill! No break!” and holding up signs with the names of shootings from Sandy Hook to the recent Pulse nightclub massacre.

The protest was broadcast on Twitter and Facebook Live after C-Span’s cameras stopped recording due to the Republican leadership sending the House into recess.
