Donald Trump Made a Terrible Connection Between Obama and the Orlando Shooting

June 13th 2016

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump made a bold implication against President Barack Obama on Monday morning. He implied that Obama has sympathy or could be involved in some sort of conspiracy involving Muslim terrorists.

Trump told Fox News show "Fox & Friends" that Obama's reluctance to use the term "radical Islamic terrorism" during comments about the Orlando nightclub shooting on Sunday means that "there's something going on."

Here's what Trump said on "Fox & Friends":

"Look, we're led by a man that either is not tough, not smart, or he's got something else in mind. And the something else in mind -- you know, people can't believe it. People cannot, they cannot believe that President Obama is acting the way he acts and can't even mention the words 'radical Islamic terrorism.' There's something going on. It's inconceivable. There's something going on."

Sunday Trump called for Obama's resignation on Twitter if he didn't use the term "radical Islamic terrorism."

Trump explained his reasoning to the Fox News hosts, in a confusing backhanded compliment.

"He doesn't get it or he gets it better than anybody understands . It's one or the other and either one is unacceptable."- Donald Trump on "Fox & Friends"

Trump also used the shooting in Orlando to reinforce his plan for ban on Muslim immigration.

In a statement on his campaign website Sunday, Trump said that hundreds of Muslim immigrants and their children are responsible for terror attacks in the U.S.

"We admit more than 100,000 lifetime migrants from the Middle East each year. Since 9/11, hundreds of migrants and their children have been implicated in terrorism in the United States. Hillary Clinton wants to dramatically increase admissions from the Middle East, bringing in many hundreds of thousands during a first term – and we will have no way to screen them, pay for them, or prevent the second generation from radicalizing."- Donald Trump

The shooter Omar Mateen, 29, was born in New York City. His parents were immigrants from Afghanistan. In the past, Donald Trump has also accused Obama of forging his U.S. birth certificate and of being a foreign Muslim.
