The mild, mostly positive reaction to Usher's photo is a stark contrast to the way people responded to another recent nude selfie posted by a celebrity.

In March, reality star Kim Kardashian faced immense criticism and slut shaming after posting a nude photo on her various social media platforms. Like Usher, she covered up her private parts for the photo, yet many people said she shouldn't post a photo like on social media and even said she wasn't setting a good example for other girls by doing so.

Kardashian went on to silence the haters through a short essay on her site.

"I am empowered by my body," she wrote. "I am empowered by my sexuality. I am empowered by feeling comfortable in my skin. I am empowered by showing the world my flaws and not being afraid of what anyone is going to say about me. And I hope that through this platform I have been given, I can encourage the same empowerment for girls and women all over the world."
