Heartwarming Images of Children Who Were Just Adopted

For many children in the foster care system, getting adopted by a family is the ultimate dream.

The nonprofit Together We Rise tries to make that dream dome true. 

They launched a photo project two years ago that captures the moment when children leave the foster care system and join their adoptive families. The images feature children with signs that show how long they were in the foster care system before finding their "forever families," as noted by The Huffington Post.

“With so much negative news surrounding foster care we just want highlight the positive with amazing adoptions that are happening every day,” Together We Rise's executive director, Gianna Dahlia told The Huffington Post. “There are many negative stereotypes surrounding kids in foster care but they are just children who want loving families and there are families out there fighting for them."

According to the Administration for Children and Families, a division of the Department of Health & Human Services, there were roughly 415,129 children in foster care as of the most recent Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System report in 2015.
