President Obama: 'Prince Did It All'

April 21st 2016

President Barack Obama has joined the chorus of voices mourning the death of music icon Prince on Thursday

"Nobody's spirit was stronger, bolder, or more creative," Obama said in an official statement.

The President had at least one personal encounter with Prince during his life — a 2015 private performance held at the White House.

The governor of Prince's home state of Minnesota, Mark Dayton, also weighed in on the passing of the music legend.

“We are so sad in Minnesota today to have lost Prince. He was a global star, but we feel his loss personally here at home," Dayton said in an official statement. "Through his playful, funny, original, and prodigious talent he defined the ‘Minneapolis sound,’ and left an indelible mark on music and culture not only in Minnesota but everywhere. Our thoughts and prayers are with all his family and friends. This is a huge loss.”
