Guy Goes on Racist Rant After Being Denied Sex

April 13th 2016

A viral tweet of a recent text message exchange shows just how horribly some men can react when they're denied sex.

Earlier this week, a Twitter user named @araferal tweeted out a text message exchange between her unnamed female friend and her female friend's date. After the woman says no to sex, however, the man becomes wildly hostile and even uses a racial slur against Asians to describe her:

The man goes on to complain about having to buy this "poor ass" woman's drinks, among other things, and he blames her for not meeting his "manly needs":

Because the last part of the above text message exchange is cut off, some Twitter users speculated that the female friend might be an escort. This led Twitter user to publish the text message exchange in full, seemingly denying this particular allegation against her friend:

The man continued berating the woman for saying no to sex, insinuating that no "quality guys" would ever really want her:

The tweet of this insane text message exchange has been retweeted nearly 12,000 times and liked nearly 15,000 times as of writing this piece, and many people have called out the unidentified man for his abhorrent response to being denied sex. Twitter users also pointed out the irony in @araferal facing immense backlash from men who felt the text message was an unfair representation of their gender at large:

This bizarre text message exchange is just one example of a larger problem of sexism and toxic masculinity in our culture.

The idea that a woman "owes" a man sex is wrongheaded, and it even contributes to rape culture. This mentality demeans women, turns sex and the female body into a transaction, and demonstrates toxic masculinity and male entitlement to the female body. It also removes the woman's agency and her ability to have a sexual desire of her own. Maybe she didn't want to have sex that night, yet the man seems to think it's part of the deal of going out. Dating should be a two-way street of mutual respect, not all about what the man wants when he wants it.

The popular Instagram account Bye Felipe finds humor in these kind of exchanges.

Bye Felipe, which is a play on the classic "Bye Felicia" line from the film "Friday," publishes a lot of rude and hostile exchanges from men on various social media platforms. Many of the exchanges show men becoming angry and insulting when they are ignored or rejected by women:
