Fox News Just Issued Its Latest Takedown of Donald Trump

March 18th 2016

Following his most recent call to boycott Fox News' Megyn Kelly on Friday, the channel's executives issued a statement blasting the Republican front-runner for his "sick obsession" with the anchor, calling his sexist demeanor proof that he's unfit to be president.

"Donald Trump's vitriolic attacks against Megyn Kelly and his extreme, sick obsession with her is beneath the dignity of a presidential candidate who wants to occupy the highest office in the land," a spokesman for the network said.

In Fox's most pointed statement about the candidate yet, the spokesman called Trump's latest attack against Kelly part of an ongoing campaign to take the anchor down a notch with sexist jabs.

"Megyn is an exemplary journalist and one of the leading anchors in America — we’re extremely proud of her phenomenal work and continue to fully support her throughout every day of Trump’s endless barrage of crude and sexist verbal assaults. As the mother of three young children, with a successful law career and the second highest rated show in cable television, it’s especially deplorable for her to be repeatedly abused just for doing her job."

Earlier on Friday, the leading GOP contender called on his more than 7 million Twitter followers to boycott "The Kelly File," which he claims is biased against him.

Trump's feud with the Fox anchor began back in August, when she pressed him on his history of inflammatory remarks against women at a GOP debate. In January, the candidate said he would not attend a Fox News debate in Des Moines, Iowa at which Kelly was set to moderate, prompting a response from Fox News.

"We're not sure how Iowans are going to feel about [Trump] walking away from them at the last minute, but it should be clear to the American public by now that this is rooted in one thing — Megyn Kelly, whom he has viciously attacked since August and has now spent four days demanding be removed from the debate stage," the statement read.
