Watch 18-Year-Old Ted Cruz Joke About Taking Over the World

January 24th 2016

Thanks to a video released on YouTube Saturday, voters can peer into the young life of GOP candidate and "New York Values" skeptic Ted Cruz, as he discusses his sarcastic aspiration to “take over the world.”

“Take over the world, world domination, you know, rule everything. Rich, powerful, that sort of stuff," said the 18-year old Cruz.

According to the video description, the footage is from 1988 and was posted by the anonymous YouTube name, “Young Ted Cruz,” leaking by a former classmate. It pictures Cruz on his bicycle as he divulges his goals for the future while attending Second Baptist School in Houston, Texas. Cruz campaign spokesman Rick Tyler told POLITICO, "Good to see he’s always had a great sense of humor."

While a video of a goofball kid turned state senator will likely not cause voters to alter their decisions, it’s a fun flashback into the life of the President hopeful. With less than 10 days before the Iowa caucus, politicians are getting revved up to show Iowa that they have what it takes to be the next President of the United States. Iowans are eager to peer into the lives of the many politicians and learn about their aspirations for the future of America; however, It's unlikely that "world domination" will be their quick response.
