Canadians Welcome Syrian Refugees With A Heartwarming Trending Hashtag

December 12th 2015

On Wednesday, newly minted Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted about the impending arrival of Syrian refugees to his country:

Seeing as his welcoming message received over 10,000 retweets and 15,000 likes, it's clear that many Canadians were more than happy to offer freedom and safety to their new neighbors.

On Friday, a plane carrying over 150 Syrian refugees landed safely in Canada's Toronto Pearson airport.

But instead of being greeted with signs at the arrival gate, the refugees were greeted with a heartwarming, trending hashtag: #WelcomeToCanada

Me too, Durie Dee. Me too.
