Trump Calls for All Muslim-Americans Abroad to Not Reenter U.S.

December 7th 2015

After announcing in a press release that he would initiate a "total and complete shutdown" of Muslims entering the United States, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's camp extended that by saying that the ban would also prevent Muslim-American citizens abroad from returning back home to the U.S., according to the Hill.

When asked if Muslim-American citizens would be included in Trump's proposed ban, spokesperson for Trump Hope Hicks responded in an email statement to the Hill: "Mr. Trump means everyone," Hicks said.

In his statement released earlier today Trump quoted Pew Research findings (Pew told ATTN: reporter Kyle Jaeger that they are not sure what poll Trump is referring to) that claim to show that "there is a great hatred towards Americans by large segments of the Muslim population," as well as a poll from the conservative think-tank the Center for Security Policy that says 25 percent of Muslims believe that violence against Americans is justified as part of a global jihad. (This poll has been widely discredited.)

"Without looking at the various polling data, it is obvious to anybody the hatred is behind comprehension," Trump said in the statement. "Where this hatred comes from and why we will have to determine. Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life."

This comes just a day after President Barack Obama addressed the nation calling for the American people to work together with the Muslim community in order to be able to effectively defeat terrorism.
