You're About To Hear Bruce Jenner's Story

April 24th 2015

In a highly anticipated interview with ABC News' Diane Sawyer, Bruce Jenner will finally speak for himself tonight in a special edition of "20/20."

The first promo for the interview hints at the topics covered with the text: "The journey, the decisions, the future." Meanwhile, the segment has been described by ABC News as "far-ranging and exclusive." Although Sawyer is clearly visible in the short clip, Jenner appears only in silhouette.

Let the speculation commence.

ATTN: has already discussed why we should let Bruce Jenner tell his own story in his own time -- and why guessing at what Jenner may say about his gender identity is crass at best and harmful at worst.

"[S]peculating about a person's gender identity only inflames the invasive and gross scrutiny that transgender people face every day at school, at work, or even when just walking down the street," said GLAAD president Sarah Kate Ellis of the media circus around Jenner's gender. "It's long past time that media outlets stop gossiping."

I'm glad to see that we'll get to hear from Jenner directly in this interview. And despite the sensationalistic decision to keep Jenner's face in shadow in the trailer -- it's not like we don't all know what Jenner looks like given the massive amount of tabloid press -- with a GLAAD award-winning journalist at the helm, the conversation will likely be LGBT sensitive, if transition or other related topics are even touched upon at all.
