Debbie Wasserman Schultz Booed off Stage During Delegation Breakfast in Philadelphia

July 25th 2016

Though Democratic National Party Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz had announced plans for her resignation over the weekend, it looks like things are only going to get more difficult for the controversial Florida Representative.

On Monday morning, Wasserman Schultz was reportedly booed by her own Florida delegates during a delegation breakfast in Philadelphia, according to ABC News.

Before Wasserman Schultz even began speaking at the pre-convention event, the boos started. She tried to address the recent shooting in Fort Myers, Florida, which left two people dead and 14 injured, but the crowd wouldn't let her. She kept asking them to "settle down."

ABC News reports that Wasserman Schultz addressed the boos with this statement:

"I can see there’s a little bit of interest in my being here, and I can appreciate that interest."

Wasserman Schultz is resigning after five years amidst a leaked emails controversy which may show a bias in favor of Hillary Clinton, which is an inappropriate position for the DNC chairperson to have. There is speculation that Russia is behind the leak.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump wasted no time in tweeting about the former chairwoman's struggle at the Philadelphia event:
